Guatemala City

Other than having heard a lot about the dangers of walking the streets, we knew very little (and cared very little) about Guatemala City. We needed to go there to catch our flight to Rio so we decided to stay for 2 nights to check it out.

We stayed in Zone 10 of the city (“Zone Viva”) which is the safest and richest area, and found it to be safe, pretty, surprisingly modern and clean. We wanted to take it easy after early mornings in Xela and future busy partying times in Rio, so we spent most of our time in between the big mall next door (where we bought speakers, McDonalds, replacement toiletries and coffees), the cafes and restaurants down the street and our room.

All we really did in Guatemala City was relax, eat and drink. Eating Sundaes

Drinking (happy hour)

In the most modern mall in Guatamala

Tacontento on our last night in Guatemala - pastor tacos, vino and cebolla

One less book to carry!
