1 day in Uruguay

We spent only 1 day and 1 night in Montevideo on our way from Brazil to Argentina. We stayed at the Che Lagarto hostel which has a great location right in the centre of town, but was otherwise REALLY ANNOYING (we booked a double room with private bathroom and received a room with a bunk bed and a shared bathroom, there was 1 bathroom between about 20 people so opportunities to use it were few and far between and music blared from the bar until about 3am when Grey went to turn it off and discovered that there was no one there!).

View from the balcony of our hostel
We spent the afternoon visiting the Mercado de Puerta, a big indoor meat market filled with open coal barbecues, eating all sorts of meat and drinking wine.

After, we walked around the city exploring buildings and shops.

Pumpkins and oranges

International Organization for Standardization ... a fun place to work!!

Beautiful old building on the main square
