Panajachel is pretty much a one-road town. We arrived after a 3 hour minibus drive from Antigua, and decided to stay for one night to check it out before venturing over to San Pedro on the other side of the lake. We checked into the Utz Jay hotel which was unremarkable save for an amazingly strong shower!
In our room practicing guitar |
The lake was misty that afternoon so we didn’t get to have a good look at it. Instead, we walked up and down the main road, checking out samey souvenir stores and restaurants and then spent some time hanging out in our room practicing guitar. Later in the night we grabbed some dinner at CafĂ© Bombay. We were excited to see Pad Thai on the menu (having Thai withdrawal), however when it arrived at our table it was just pasta with peanuts. Sad.
Not thai pad thai |
Not too much else to say. The next morning we packed up early , had a quick breakfast (I had fruit salad swimming in yogurt) and then caught a boat across the lake to San Pedro.
The main road in Pana - not much happening |
