We hired a car and drove to Vegas. The highlights of the drive to Vegas:
- Getting out of LA – freeway were everywhere. We put our trust in our wonderful GPS (specifically “NOT covered by insurance”) and she guided us well;
- Zzyxz road turnoff;
- In and Out Burger in Barstow – really tasty, but I want to learn about the “Secret Menu”. We saw a guy ordering a burger with lettuce leaves in place of the bun! Unbelievable;
- Breaking the GPS and falling on my face in the In and Out Burger carpark … classy and potentially expensive (but repercussions were cleverly averted);
- $15 Levis (soft/light denim in “boyfriend” style) at Barstow – I haven’t worn my skinny jeans since;
- Observing the aftermath of a big crash (5 to 10 cars) on the side of the road and seeing body bags (scary);
- Watching the sun set over the desert.
